Lugnåsberget is a lovely little mountain to hike over. There are marked trails, nice roads and interesting places at which to stop. Kinnekulle mountain also has a lot to offer those who like to hike. Moreover, the Biosphere Trail runs between the mountains. The trail is right outside the door.
Hike in one of Sweden’s 7 Biosphere Reserves, Vänerskärgården med Kinnekulle (Lake Vänern archipelago with Kinnekulle mountain). A Biosphere Reserve is a model area for sustainable development designated by UNESCO. To be considered, the area must be of high natural value and have engaged residents. Lugnåsberget is the smallest plateau mountain in Skaraborg county.
There are several nature reserves and a beautiful cultural landscape with open fields and rolling pastures. Here there is also a large forest and a magical forest lake with beaver, pike and osprey. The area is characterised by a millstone industry which existed from the end of the Viking era to the period before the first world war.
Along the Stonecutters Trail(about 6 km), you can see many millstones and quarries. If you want to know more about millstones there is Qvarnstensgruven (The Millstone Mine) to visit, with guided tours, museum and café. With the Kinnekulle train you can easily get to Kinnekulle and its exciting envorons.
