Hotel & Accommodation

The Ekohotell is located in Lugnåsberget in Mariestad’s municipality in the Biosphere Reserve – Vänerskärgården with Kinnekulle. Lugnåsberget is also included in Platåbergen’s Geopark. Here you are close to nature, with forest, viewing points, swim-friendly forest lakes, tracks, hiking trails and exciting geology. The Ekohotell has a free and secluded location in the countryside and offers great opportunities for peace and quiet. All linen and towels  and final cleaning service are included in our prices. Add an organic breakfast basket if you like. Dogs are always welcome.

THE HOUSES

The Ekohotell comprises two houses with a total of 6 rooms, an apartment and a total of 24 beds.

In the Red House there are 6 rooms each with their own entrances on the ground floor, totalling around 18 beds.

In the Yellow House there is an apartment on the upper floor, 6 beds.

ROOMS

All rooms have private wc/shower and their own exits out to the fresh air. Pets are welcome in several rooms. One of our rooms is suitable for wheelchair users.

A detailed description of the rooms is found here.

WI-FI AND TV

On Lugnåsberget we have our own fibre optic association, which means that there are good opportunities to surf.

You have free access to Wi-Fi via fibre optics in all rooms and we are TV-free so that you get time to socialise with each other and your new friends. There are board games and books to borrow.

KITCHEN

You have free access to great guest kitchens where you can cook your own food. The Red House guest kitchen has seating for 8 persons. A large veranda with several seating groups runs around the whole house.

In the Yellow House on the lower floor is the breakfast kitchen. There is also a large room here with seating for around 18 people at tables. Here you will also find board games and books. Outside there is a roofed veranda accommodating around 24 people.

BREAKFAST AND DINNER BASKETS

All our food baskets are based on local ecological ingredients. Add a breakfast basket with e.g. home-baked bread, marmalade, coffee, tea, porridge and milk, available all year round.

You can eat breakfast when it suits you as the food is packed in portions in the fridge. You can cook your own food in our guest kitchen or try one of our dinner baskets with smoked lamb. Ecological lamb comes from Månskenbonden and the vegetables are grown on Lugnåsberget.

We love desserts so there are several good local alternatives, Klings cream buns and home-baked Swedish cheesecake with zucchini for example. All the food is already in place in the fridge when you arrive. You may eat when you wish.

BICYCLES, CANOES AND SAUNA

You can rent Skeppshult 3-gear cycles, electric bikes and children’s bikes. Cycle helmet and cycle basket are included.

There is also a canoe for rent and with it transport to Lake Vristulven, paddles, life vest and map of the lake are included. At the Ekohotell there is a wood-fired sauna that you can also hire yourself or together with new friends.

GARDEN AND ANIMALS

Outdoors there is a large garden for play and relaxation. Garden furniture and BBQs are available for use. You are welcome to eat the berries that grow on the bushes and trees in the garden. Sheep and hens will greet you at the Ekohotell during the summer. On the other side of the road, cattle graze.

CAMPFIRES, BBQs AND CAMPING LIFE

For those of you who are looking for rather more adventurous sleeping arrangements, there is a camping site with windbreak in our sheep fold where you can sleep. We have sleeping bags for hire. Then you can also try cooking food over an open fire.

In the garden there is an outdoor kitchen. There is also a permanent BBQ by the large sun bench outside Ekohotell’s Red House. For cooking over an open fire you can rent cooking utensils from us.

ECOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS

The Ekohotell is ecologically certified with Green Key. Solar cells provide energy all year round. Pellet burning stoves warm the Yellow House.

In the grounds there is an individual waste drain and we have chosen a biological treatment plant from Bioclere. The Ekohotell’s grounds are large and grazing sheep among other things maintain them.
